The webinars and associated materials have been designed and written by our lead clinical professionals Keith Simpson MRCVS and Karen Heskin MRCVS, who have decades of collective experience spanning general and referral practice, research, development, and education. The webinars will be presented by Karen.

What will this webinar cover?

Capnography is routine in many practices and is a key element in effective patient monitoring. 
In the first part of this live webinar, we will discuss the physiology of carbon dioxide (CO2) and the effects of hypo-and hypercapnia on our patients; review rebreathing and how to identify and manage it; discuss the management of abnormal CO2 levels; and we will troubleshoot some common abnormal waveforms. Tips and tricks for getting the best out of your capnograph will also be included.

The second part of this webinar will reflect on the environmental and financial implications of gaseous and volatile anaesthesia. Building on the information covered in the capnography section, techniques to achieve “lower-flow” anaesthesia for both rebreathing and non-rebreathing circuits will be considered.

Notes will be provided following the conclusion of the webinar, and CPD certificates will be available if required.
